Milton Hershey

Milton Hershey, founder of Hershey Chocolate, the chocolate empire, now has money and worldwide fame. But he started his career humbly – in a print shop. Then he got into a confectionery as a worker, and that’s when the idea of setting up his own company was born.

The first attempt came to nothing. So did the second. Milton had to go back to his family’s farm. But he didn’t give up, he set about developing a unique recipe for sweets. And for good reason: Hershey’s own milk chocolate was exactly what brought him success.

Success Started by Failure

Garland David Saunders

The global fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is known to almost everyone. The portrait of its founder, the grey-haired “Colonel Sanders”, is also prominent. But what few people know is that the real Garland David Sanders is a living example that success is possible at any age.

After a career in the military, he worked anywhere from a farmer to a fireman. One of the places he worked was a small petrol station, famous not for the price of fuel. It was the chicken wings Colonel Sanders cooked.

That’s what motivated the elderly man to dedicate his life to cooking. Moving from state to state, he offered the recipe for the wings to various catering establishments, and received over 1,000 rejections! Eventually, however, Sanders found his niche, and today the KFC chain is spread in 110 countries.

Bill Gates

There is no need to say much about Bill Gates: the name is known by literally everyone. However, the Microsoft founder’s first brainchild was Traf-0-Data. The company developed traffic counters for city agencies. The company went bust rather quickly, giving Gates a bad reputation. After all, one of the products failed tests completely.

Steven Spielberg

Director Steven Spielberg wasn’t exactly unlucky in his career. He couldn’t even get the education he wanted! He failed the entrance exams to the School of Cinematography, and repeatedly. Attempts to start studies in other areas of the school also turned out to be a failure. He had to go to college. However, the dream is the dream, and Spielberg made his own short film. The project impressed Universal Pictures and became the first step on the ladder of success of the famous director.

Walt Disney

Walt Disney’s path was not an easy one at all. He was fired from print for his lack of creativity. The Mickey Mouse prototype at MGM Studios was rejected due to a reluctance to show a mouse on screen. “The Three Little Pigs also failed auditions.

However, Disney didn’t give up and didn’t betray their dreams. The result – the leading cartoon-making factory, Walt Disney Studios today produces masterpieces for children and adults. And Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and other cartoon animals are recognisable around the world.
